What a fantastic project to endeavor. I am very excited for you!
So I bookmarked this blog and the passive house site as well... interesting stuff. Have you given any thought to incorporating green landscaping or water/stormwater management to your design? - it might aid in energy efficiency and overall "green" design...I 'll have to check out that passive house site more thouroughly when I have time.
Anyway good luck on the project - I'll be following this blog for sure... maybe even come by and get a tour! :)
We haven't placed emphasis on green landscaping as yet - but thanks for the suggestions. Stormwater management is mandatory in the landscaping design, so it will be included - but there is much scope to improve things here - the driveways will be porous materials, of course, but it would be great to have rainwater collection - an underground cistern - just need a little more confidence in controlling bacterial materials carried in from the roof. The green roof is not being considered due to unsupportive zoning. LT
